Has anyone used the Evernew Hydration Tube for Water Carry (EBY271) and if so, any positives/negatives you’ve experienced….additionally, do they have a universal thread so they would be compatible with a 1L water bottle or Platypus reservoir?
Thanks

i love mine!
I like being able to just stand the bladder in the side pocket of my pack and not have to worry about it being upside down, kinking the hose, etc. It's fantastic!
I've never tried it with any other bottles, so I can't speak to that, but since the Evernew stuff in general seems to be compatible (i.e. sawyer squeeze fits on it just fine…) I would THINK that it would be OK……
If you use Platys, the Platy hydration tube doesn't have the extra length to allow you the sip water out of an upright bottle. However, if you have an extra Platy hydration tube lying around, you can cut an appropriate length and jam it to the underside of the bottle cap — giving you the same function. Fits nicely, actually.
Totally subjective, but for me, I like positioning my Platy bottle upside down as that gives an assist and you don't have to suck as hard when drinking water. In fact, if you squeeze the upside down bottle, water comes gushing out through the hydration tube so you can drink gulps with very little sucking effort .
I like the magnet on the osprey bite valve….does anyone know if I can use this bite valve with the Evernew hydration tube?
yep, that's exactly what I do. I pulled the funky bite valve off the evernew and just put on the osprey bite valve (which I bought from REI by itself).
I guess why I like NOT having the tube come out of the bottom of the bag is that then I don't have to figure out how to run the hose from the bottom of the bottle, out of my side pack pocket, then up to me. This way I only need a teeny bit of hose, run it from the top of the evernew bladder and up to my shoulder strap – magnet-ed in place.
I have also used this inline with the sawyer and it works really well.
Thanks!
I like the idea of a different bite valve–the Evernew one can be hard to suck on, and the rubber part has gotten sort of funky over time, possibly from the SPF lip balm I wear. The Osprey one looks like a sports bottle sort of nipple, is that correct? And is that a bite valve cover on it?
