I picked up a Golite Jam2 pack on sale recently and will be doing a trip with it this weekend (so I'm not taking scissors to this before I'm certain I like it, haha). So far, I do like the pack quite a lot, but it has lots of extras that I don't see myself as needing to use in the future.
To all owners of the Golite Jam2 pack, how did you modify it to shave a few ounces?
I see myself taking a seam ripper to the hydration bladder sleeve, but I'm concerned about weakening the fabric when I undo all the stiches, leaving a row of holes. Do you think a urethane-based seam sealer would do the job of restoring some strength to the fabric along the old stitch lines? I wonder if there's an easy way to change the midweight nylon webbing out for lightweight grosgrain? Has anyone had luck replacing the 1/4" foam backpad with some sort of lighter weight foam that works just as well?
Thanks for the input.
