I used to see the Template every day on the way home.

I didn't know it was filled with dehydrated food.
It all makes sense now.

In the northeast last week we got hit with an unexpected ice storm that left the roads very treacherous with lots of huge accidents on our highways and bridges. I had seen a lot of friends on facebook post about regretting not going to the supermarket the day before and some other unlucky ones having their power going out and not having any way to cook.

While we had food in the fridge and our power didn't go out, I commented to my girlfriend that even if we did run into those problems we had plenty of mountain house and various stove options to last us a while. It is definitely an added level of comfort to have this gear and knowledge for use in emergency situations, even if I don't "prep" actively.
