Is there anyone who has experience with the SD Isotope Rain Jacket. For such a light waterproof jacket none of the mayor suppliers are selling it and there is not much feedback on it from users.

It got really good reviews from BPL.

So, anyone?

I had an early version (2006) which was a total POS — and traded it in for a current version (2007). Waterproofness is improved — but breathability is still just "so so".

It's an OK jacket for a day trip or overnight — but probably not for multi-day hikes where rain might be heavy and/or continuous.

I was interested in this SD coat until I read reviews on BPL about the GoLite Virga, I'd like to hear from GoLite Virga wearers (owners) — how do they like that coat?

Golite dumped the current version of the jacket from their website, so that might speak volumes. Someone mentioned a new virga coming out next year though (?new fabric).

Had same experience as Ben with 06 SD Isotope, not sure of the improved version but will take Ben's word on it. Purchased Golite Virga and it's been fine, did have to apply Tech Wash after a while when noticed surface was starting to wet out other then that it has been fine. Heard somewhere that Golite plans to come out with 6oz Virga, think that might be worth the wait.
