I have on of those cord belts with a simple cord lock to hold it cinched tight. Now the cord lock is slipping, and the belt no longer works. Aside from tying a knot monk-style, is there an aftermarket fix? Maybe some other clever fix using a mini-'biner and some shock cord (materials at my disposal)?
Remove the cord lock from the belt. Take the spring out of the cord lock and stretch it out to retension it to the desired value. Reassemble and it should work as good as new.
that there was no spring inside! Just a piston with two legs pressing against the sides of an outer cylinder. But you did point me in the right direction, and I substituted another cord lock (one with a real spring inside), and voila!
