What sorts of scales do you guys use to weigh your gear? And where can I find one cheap? ;)

Thanks

I bought a digital kitchen scale at Wal-Mart pretty reasonably.

I got a food scale from the kitchen department at Target. It's not that sensitive, which is the downside of it, but it's good enough for my purposes.

I got a nice digital postal scale on ebay for like $25 shipped, down side was the max was 50lbs – which was more than enough for my needs.

…at kitchen and postal scales, but they seem so small. Can you actually weigh an entire pack on one of those?

I don't weight my entire pack. I weigh each item individually and then add them together. I just use my bathroom scale to make sure my numbers are pretty close, and if so I don't sweat a few grams here or there.

I use a kitchen scale to weigh items, a digital fish scale to weigh the whole pack or big items :-)

Picked one up the other day at office depot. I like it a lot. The platform is raised nicely so it's easy to weith stuff, tare's (sp?) very easily, and best of all it tells me I've gotten rid of over 12lbs from my pack!!!

I have an inexpensive, electronic postal scale, a Pelouze SP5 that measures at 1g precision. I use that scale for my personal gear up to 5 pounds.

Last year I found a Rapalla fish scale on sale. It weighs up to 50 pounds in 0.1 ounce precision. It's great for weighing packs at the trailhead. It's also been a helpful tool to allow Scouts to see the weight of their entire pack.
