The Precip has gotta go. I'm struggling with my base weight, but none of these options are cheap, and I really want to get it right the first time.
OR Zealot: fabric -Paclite III, 1 chest pocket, no pit zips, only 8oz
Mountain Hardware Quark: fabric – Incite, 2 hand pockets, pit zips, only 10 oz
BMW SpinPoncho Lite: silnylon, no pockets, only 4.9oz
I've never done the poncho thing. I'm a hanger, so no opportunity to dual duty it for a tarp (in extreme cold I could rig it to help eliminate wind from one end of my tarp though). If you use the poncho with a windshirt underneath are you happy with the results?
In comparing the jackets, with them being my outermost layer I really like to have pockets for my hands, but am more concerned about breathability/waterproofness.
All of these solutions at full retail are around $200, and I don't want to go beyond that unless there is some significant improvement. Any other ideas?
