Hey all,
So I've taken out my new REI Sub Kilo a few times and so far it's been alright. It's leaking a fair amount of down, but other than that it has performed alright. We'll see how the rating holds up as the temps get cooler. So far though I've slept comfortably and had no real complaints.
However, I was thinking that it doesn't seem to have much loft. I don't know how to measure loft and I was wondering if anyone happens to know how much loft this bag has.
I don't have much money, but a local store carries western mountaineering bags and I really wanna go try the ultralite. Of course the WM bag is better overall, but is it worth it for me, a beginning backpacker, to spend the $100 more? I feel like it would be the equivalent to a scotch drinker giving me some 25 year old scotch that I can't appreciate…
I'm in New England so I'll definitely hit some low temps as I camp thru Oct. I'm thinking about keeping the REI bag till things get cold, testing how well I sleep in cold conditions, and then if I find it isn't warm enough I'l upgrade. Sound like a good plan?
