I just ordered a JRB Shenandoah Quilt, and am looking at my possibilities to turn this into a versatile 3-season sleep system.
My thought for the shoulder season:
– Quilt (16.5 oz)
– Cocoon Pullover (9.6 oz)
– Homemade half-length "Elephant Foot" (apx 7.5 oz – very narrow girth) made with Climashield Combat and Momentum.
– All used with a MLD Superlight Bivy (wide and long)
Does this sound like a good idea? Pros? Cons? Suggestions? I haven't made the Elephant foot (or bought the supplies) so I'm interested in anyone's input on insulation/fabrics. I want to be able to push this to *20 and have a measure of protection in case of moisture.
