Big Agnes Pitchpine SL

I've been keeping my eye out for this one as well. I just noticed today that it is on the Big Agnes website (available March 1).

the weight went up to 17 oz but it looks awesome 280 for regular and 299 for long

FWIW, while I've read a few posts about BA bags being true to rated warmth — I seem to encounter many more cautions / complaints about their understated weights and overstated warmth…

I think a lot of the fluctuation in BA bag ratings vs usual experience comes from the bag being specalized for flat on your back sleepers, any variation of that puts much of their draft tubes, hood position and such at a less than ideal angle. Or at least that was my experience with them.

I like the concept but I just couldn't make it work with the hood design and keep the non-insultated part perfectly straight down if I didn't use the pad inside. With the pad inside I just couldn't get as comfy as I ended up breathing into the side of the hood if I moved much at all.

Also the Marmot Atom is a 40 degree bag @ 17oz (the weight of mine at a regular length) which is not a quilt or no insulation on bottom style bag. It isn't comfy at 40 degree, more of a survivable temp, but I've been in that situation with minimal layers in damp conditions when the weather turned unexpectedly bad on a kayaking trip. The trick with that bag is to ensure you shake all the down to the top first if you need the extra warmth.
