On sale this weekend for $100. New color combinations: orange/black and green/black. The new colors look great.

Interesting. Kind of reminds of the MLD Newt, which i have an older version of.

So what's the advantage of this vs the Newt? Looks like there is a bit more outside space, but otherwise similar weight and volume.

Wouldn't the 210D nylon with dyneema tend to last longer, be more durable than the 50D cuben with extra polyester on the outside?

Even on sale, the Newt is 20 dollars less.

The same durabilty vs cost arguement can be used against virtually EVERY maker of Cuben packs vs dynema, robotic etc. Also, the back and bottom of the Zimmer are 150D hybrid…

It's also not shaped like a 2 foot long grey Dyneema Sausage ,either , ;)

I bet many folks would think the superior layout and better color choices of the quickstep more than make up for the $20 cost diff.

I got my Quickstep on the Gear Swap Forum while looking for a pack for my SUL kit. I had it narrowed down to a slightly customized Zpacks Zero, a MLD Newt and the Quickstep. I really liked the pocket layout of the Quickstep and the quality is amazing. Love mine and at $100 it is great price.

I'm not saying that it's a bad pack, or significantly less value than the MLD one, but while the sale price is only 20 dollars difference, the regular price difference is substantial, 150 vs 79, and likely the latter will be more durable on all parts of the pack.

If i didn't have a Newt already, because of the sale, i would be tempted by the Zimmer pack. However, during a non sale, no way would i go with the Zimmer over the MLD at almost twice the price.

Wish I had gotten one of these. Maybe they will be on sale again sometime.

Justin – I get your point about cost at retail. The Quickstep at $150 is at the higher end of the market. There are aspects of the Quickstep I prefer over the MLD and Zpacks offerings, but paying full retail would require a serious gut check for me.
