I have been building away in what my roommates now deem Santa's shop. I had some left over m90 and bought an single yard of 2.5 Climashield Apex, knowing I would have extra fabric to play with. So I built a jacket after getting tired of shlepping heavy wool sweaters, here it is, I call it the business suit because of the black tie center.

the entire thing is 2.5 Apex except for the center black section, which is 5 apex. Also the pockets are apex 5 on top of 2.5 base apex, mittens I can never drop. the lining is 5m Silk. I measured out a patagonia down to get the dimensions, but had to go with the fabric dimensions I had available(I am allergic to down and gave it away after I got it's dimensions).2

Nice looking jacket

interesting shapes of brown, green, and black

are the 2.5 and 5 oz sections for some reason or are they just what you had available.

you got it right, one yard of 2.5 isn't enough for the torso and sleeves, it fit but was so tight, the insulation looked useless. So I supplemented leftover sleeping bag apex 5 in the middle.
All I have left are ribbons of m90. If i were to do it all over, I would have ordered more material and maybe cut off the front pockets so the jacket is a simple 2.5 layer only, maybe put an inner pocket on the chest for a water bottle or filter, but i use a lanyard already.

I noticed the apex 5 really starts a fire in my belly that makes me overheat, even a bit after I take it off (40 degrees right now). I put the Apex 5 on the front for the core insulation concept, or if i were using it while wearing my pack, plus it's the simplest spot to add a few inches of material and was easier to make the zipper off center rather than stripping off two zippers and adding two smaller panels. I did place the pockets higher up so I could use my pack belt and still access the pockets.
It's a snug fit with 4 layers under, and rainjacket on top! so I am happy, looking forward to trying it's limits.
I took some photos as I was making it, if there were any interest in how to make something like this.

ha, ha,…

My last three projects were totally with materials on hand – pack, rain jacket, down vest

And my tent is made with several colors of silnylon.
