I figured I'd go ahead and compare the Atom SV with it's successor, the Atom AR.

Similarities:

– Coreloft
– Fleece lined pockets
– internal security zip pocket
– Gossamera face fabric

Differences:

– Atom SV uses 100g Coreloft all around
– Atom AR uses 120g Coreloft in the body, 60g in the sleeves, 80g in the hood
– Atom AR has an adjustable "halo" hood toggle that works like the the Cerium Lt and Patagonia puffies, offering better coverage
– Atom SV uses two toggles in the front for hood closure, and one in the back for adjusting 'vertical' tension, pulling the brim up
– Atom SV has fleece fabric in the face area, Atom AR uses a zipper garage but no fleece

I still think the Atom AR is one of the best on the market, but there are a lot of great synthetics out there that compete- although none offer the combination of fit, fabrics and features- IMO.

Don't forget the Nuclei hoody!
I've had one for a couple months & I completely love it!
IMO, it's the perfect wintertime synthetic insulating layer. I can wear it under a hardshell, but I prefer it as an outer layer in cold, windy conditions.
80g of Coreloft in the body with 60g in the arms & hood. Under 11 oz for my XL, and a perfect fit for lanky guys like me!

I like the changes I think. Not enough to get a new one, but nice to hear.
This being bpl though – how about the overall weight of the two?

Could be just sample variation but I got a new Atom LT and with the hood adjustment it is a bit lighter than my old one.
