This may be a long shot, but here goes.

I'm looking at hiking out the hot springs next weekend, and would love to take the Alder Creek trail but I can't find any info on whether the creeks are flowing. I've tried calling the ranger station but nobody has every picked up.

Has anyone been out that way lately?

I haven't heard any recent info, but I wouldn't expect to find much, if any, before reaching Alder or Sespe Creeks. Even those creeks may just have isolated pools. I doubt there's much running water to be found just yet.

Try posing your question on either the Condor Trail or Los Padres Forest Association Facebook pages. There's a few folks on there that tend to keep tabs on current conditions throughout LPNF; they might be able to share info from someone who passed through that way recently. I know there were some folks out along the Alder Creek area over the last couple of weeks searching for (and finding) a missing dog. Perhaps one of them will see your post and update you on the water situation.

FYI, the gate on the road heading toward Dough Flat has closed for the season, so plan on adding a little extra road walking to each end of your trip.
