I spent a weekend last summer cycling the Skyline Drive for 105 miles. If you’ve never been, it’s a great ride, especially if you don’t have time to backpack the AT, as it goes parallel. At its south terminus, the Blue Ridge Parkway begins and goes through southwest Virginia, ending in the Smokies. I would have kept going if I didn’t have a hundred other things to do.
