I just got the Arc'teryx Ceres in the mail today and it happened to be 21 F with windchill bringing it down to 4 F. I'm just going to post my initial impressions of the jacket.
I wore a pair of thick slacks, wool socks, 150 weight boxers and a T-shirt as well as the Ceres and headed out for a quick 15 minute stroll. First, I was most impressed by the box wall construction. Even with only 225 g of down fill this jacket is extremely warm. The fill definitely doesn't tell the whole story. I'm sure that the windstopper had a lot to do with it as it was very windy outside. Equally impressive was the storm hood. It allowed such a great fit allowing you to expose only your eyes when it got really windy. The length was also perfect. Just coming down over the crotch area as well as covering your bum completely. The fit was nice, it hugs the body well, while still providing enough room for layers. You could probably fit another lightweight synthetic or down piece under it. Gotta say I'm super stoked on this jacket as it is ticks all the boxes I was looking to fill.
