OR Flex-Tex Gaiters or ID Shortie eVent gaiters?

I only have the ID shortie gaiters, but find them very light weight and breathable. I don't even really notice I have them on when hiking.

I've only had them a couple of months so I can't really comment on the durability.

In a short gaiter the waterproofness is a bit of a moot point since they cover such a small surface. Wearing a rain skirt & the shorties, my lower pants legs still get wet in the rain, as the exposed part of the pants will wick water underneath the gaiters.

They're excellent for keeping debris out of hiking shoes though.

I have both. The Flex Tex’s are more breathable and have a sleeker profile, so I prefer them for everything except wet weather in temps below 40F or so. The fabric pills and snags with wear, but I’ve never had a hardware failure. Crusty snow chews up the fabric pretty well tho. One pair would last me a thru-hike, but probably not much more than that. The ID eVent’s are definitely more durable overall, and more weather resistant. They’re bearable in mild weather, but I don’t find them as comfortable as stretch gaiters for the majority of 3-season conditions.

Caveat – I may be replacing my flex tex’s with the Simblissity LevaGaiter, which appears to be made from a similar fabric, but in a simpler design.

1) how are the stretch gaiters in summer, especially considering that they are black?

2) how are the eVent gaiters in milder cooler weather, say 45F – 65F?

3) When do you decide to take the ID eVent gaiters with you in place of the stretch gaiters?

I would have expected the stretch gaiters to be more durable.

Thanks for pointing out the Leva gaiters. Do you know how the height compares with the height of the OR Flex Tex?
