I found these Head winter running gloves at Costco the other day, and I'm liking them so far. They're only $13, and they should work well for winter hiking.

They seem to be a similar weight to my OR PL400 mittens, which I like but was planning on getting the glove versions soon. Unless these perform poorly, I doubt I'll need the OR gloves.

If you can't read the tag in the picture below, they're composed of 58% polyester, 36% nylon, and 6% spandex.

I bought these exact same gloves at the KOA outside Glacier National Park last year when I forgot to bring my own. They are great. I have used them in 15 degree weather just last weekend and my hands stayed warm. I used them for gathering firewood, batoning fire wood, cooking, etc.. and they hold up nicely. Also they work with touchscreens as well which is a plus. The size large I have weigh 2.2 ounces. I picked up a pair of these for my wife at Costco as I have had them for a year now and love them.
