My solo hike from Kearsarge to Mt Whitney Sept 4-10
day 1: Whitney portal acclimation
day 2: Over Kearsarge pass to Charlotte Lake
day 3: Charlotte Lake to Center Basin
day 4: Center Basin to unnamed lake near Lake South America via Forester Pass
day 5: Unnamed lake to Lower Crabtree Meadow
day 6: Lower Crabtree to unnamed tarn near Hitchcock Lakes
day 7: Hitchcock Lakes to Mt Whitney Summit, over Trailcrest, then back to Whitney Portal.
At the start of the hike my pack weighed in at ~34 lbs with 3 liters of water and 7 days worth of food. Not ultralight….but decently light.

After thoughts:
-Need to revisit my mid layers, probably could have lost some weight there.
-Defeet Woolie boolie socks are superior to Vermont darn tough for smell reduction.
-Fox river sock liners help with stank.
-Bring pringles, and more triscuits…and paydays…and cheese crackers.
-Don’t camp high and exposed when lightning is in the forecast.
-Didn’t need my gaitors with my brooks cascadia 9’s.
-Coughlan’s camp soap doesn’t work that great…need alternative.
-Brooks Cascadia’s are my new best friend.
-Zpacks Hexamid’s are awesome and can take a serious beating.
-My Zimmerbuilt pack, a year later, is still my favorite piece of gear. Didn’t soak up water at all when hiking in a storm.
-Powdered humus = horrible gas.
