Fenix does not make this flashlight anymore (they're great as they only use a single AAA battery).
By the way, I remember someone posting (but can't find it again) where can you get the clip (just the clip) for a fenix ld01 or e01 flashlight. I think the clip was not by fenix but fits fenix flashlights.
Thanks!
Oct 25, 2014 at 5:08 pm #2144378Fenix replaced the LD01 with the LD02 back in July. (It now has a reverse-clicky switch, and a TIR lens which makes it more floody. Much brighter too.) Was an REI exclusive for a while, but I think other retailers have it now.
Consider also the FourSevens Preon 1, and the Fenix E05 2014 Edition. The Preons are part of a lego system that allows a 1 or 2 AAA body, clicky switches, and multiple colors, with titanium versions available. The E05 (now) has three levels like the LD01/LD02, uses a twisty interface like the LD01, and comes in three colors (aluminum), stainless steel, and a titanium version branded as the E99.
Oct 25, 2014 at 5:22 pm #2144382Very interesting. It looks like the LD02 comes complete with a clip as well. Very nice. I use a headband holder from Nite Ize that weighs less than an ounce. A clip could save a few grams and fit into your system better. Those Preon models look great as well.
Oct 25, 2014 at 7:36 pm #2144408I had two streamlight microstreams that I carry on me everyday…though after a few years they are getting a bit finicky, so I was looking to replace one with something new just to try out.
I had a few requirements:
1. Reversible clip (so I could carry clipped to my pocket for EDC, or clipped to my hat in camp).
2. Clicky (I like clicky a lot better than twisties)
3. single AAA
4. Multiple power modes, with a pretty low, low power setting.
After quite a bit of research on candlepowerforums, I chose the Lumintop tool, which I bought on ebay from hkequipment's ebay page (make sure you do the negotiate your price option to get it for a few bucks cheaper).
Really like it so far….it actually can operate in both clicky or twisty if you prefer twisty instead.
Oct 25, 2014 at 9:08 pm #2144421Also check out the Olight i3s, twist function, 80 lumens on high, just under 15g, reversible clip.

Picked up one, then I picked up another. Starts off on low (3 lumens) and it is lighter than the LD01. I don't think there are any other AAA lights that start off on low. And, yes, the clip is reversible.

I have an older version and really like it. I carry a Photon on a string which goes around my neck at night, and the Maratac for when I need a lot of light.Oct 26, 2014 at 6:17 pm #2144596The E05 looks good to me. Comes in stainless too :)

If you really want some bling, there is the titanium E99Ti http://www.fenix-store.com/fenix-e99ti-led-flashlight-titanium-ltd-edt/
Oct 26, 2014 at 8:40 pm #2144643The LD02 finally have better specs than the LD01 did, but for $10 cheaper, I really love the Olight. I've owned several and bought them as gifts for people who are just amazed at how much light and run time you get out of such a tiny package.
The reversible clip is awesome for clipping it to your hat. I replaced the clip and chain with a small O-ring. When I'm camping, I run a piece of cord through the o-ring and wear it as a necklace for easy access and so I know I'll have it on me when darkness creeps up on me.
I just lost my last one, so I'll be ordering another one soon. I just love them!

Locale: Founder & Lead Moderator, https://www.facebook.com/groups/SierraNorthPCThikersI have a couple of E05 flashlights but without a clip. I'd like to order a clip for them to clip to my hiking baseball cap. Does anyone know of a clip that works?
Thanks for the other tips. I know I have an Olight light around the house somewhere but temporarily lost. The L02 sounds very interesting. I see that 3rd party dealers still sell the LD01 light though.

Locale: Founder & Lead Moderator, https://www.facebook.com/groups/SierraNorthPCThikersCompare the clip on the LD02 with the clip on the LD01 — the difference between very strong and reliable hardware versus a piece of junk (worthless). The LD02 clip does not reliably clip on a hiking cap while the LD01 clip, which is twice as thick and wider, is very strong and clips securely on a hiking cap. The Fenix LD02 I consider a piece of junk for that single reason. If I can find a clip as good as the LD01 clip, I will order it for my LD02 light. I’m writing a nasty complaint to Fenix tonight. Very upset.
Jun 29, 2016 at 6:48 am #3411330Roleigh, I like the clip on the Maratac AAA although I did have one pop off. I ordered another and then found the original in my back yard.
Is the OLight i3s the same thing as my Maratac light?
Jun 29, 2016 at 11:42 am #3411382For those looking for a similar flash light to the Fenix AAA lights, check out DGQ Tiny AAA in titanium. Weighs only 9oz without battery, has a reversible clip, and starts on low. Also tightening the flashlight is off, so it won’t turn on in your pack. Also it can run on rechargeable 10440 batteries which is rare for similar flashlights. I am waiting for mine in the mail, it is very slow since it is international shipping.
Also DGQ makes many other light weight flashlights, one of then is even smaller and weighs 5 grams or so.

Locale: Founder & Lead Moderator, https://www.facebook.com/groups/SierraNorthPCThikersIf you can photograph the clip on your non-fenix light, it would be useful to see if it is good enough to clip on a hiking cap and use as your headlight. The new fenix clips are trash (I looked at their other lights, and they’re all cheap clips). Look at this photograph showing the old LD01 versus the LD02. A great clip has been replaced with junk.
Jun 29, 2016 at 12:28 pm #3411392Hi there.
I have an old L0D for sale with a good clip. Make me an offer! :)

Jun 29, 2016 at 12:35 pm #3411394Sorry to hear about the clip Roleigh.
I have not received the light yet but hope the clip is strong as I would like to use it as a headlamp clipped to my cap. I will try to get a picture when it arrives.
Jun 29, 2016 at 1:08 pm #3411404Hm. Owned a LD02 for a while now and have had no problems with the clip.
I attach it to my buff though.
