My first attempt at sewing a shirt. I still have to finish the cuffs and add snaps but here is what I have so far. The sewing came out great but my advise would be not to use a regular shirt pattern. Many of these store bought patterns are more of a dress shirt cut and don't blend well for active wear. It fits my wife pretty good but it is really restrictive on me. Also someone dropped the ball in making the pattern as the sleeve and body panels had to be altered to match, real PITA. I would recommend taking an old shirt that you like the fit and ripping the seams and using it for your pattern.
I used an overcast stich to join the panels and another 2 rows of top stitching to finish the seams like a lot of store bought shirts but I think its a bit overkill. One row of top stitching should be almost as bulletproof and a lot less time consuming.
The material feels like it will be great for all temps but will have to test before saying for sure.
Once you get a good pattern and a little practice you can make a few of these pretty easily. I wish the first one came out better fitting but for the $16 dollars of material it was sure cheaper to try on my own than taking sewing lessons to learn how to do it. Second effort will be a lot easier and fit great. A few pics…
