Another thread sparked this search. I'm looking for a warmer down parka to go over an R1 and Atom lt to keep me warm while in camp down to 10F.

I'm considering these:
Frost line 6.7 oz 800 fill. Total 19.7 oz
Mirage 5.3 oz 900 fill. Total 12.8 oz

Both have box construction.
I like the Mirage for the weight, but the extra down in the frontline would be nice.
Is the higher quality 900 fill enough to make these jackets comparable in warmth?

If you have other jacket suggestions I'm all ears.

6.7 * 800 = 5360
5.3 * 900 = 4770
5360 / 4770 = 1.12

the 800 fill will be 12% warmer

ignoring other factors, but that gives an idea

you probably won't notice 12% warmer, so they're about the same

As a Washingtonian I would plug the Feathered Friends Hyperion, Helios or Volant and the Nunatak Skaha and Kobuck.

I never realized that the Frost Line Parks was box baffled. I might have to get one. I got a Montbell Alpine jacket years ago but always wished I would have got a hood with it and this looks like the same thing with a hood.
