Is there a magical jacket out there that can be used as a wind jacket with a DWR and also as a long sleeved shirt to keep out some bugs and the sun?

Are you planning on using while hiking or while resting?
I use a windshirt for bug protection but I don't need it while I'm moving, the bugs around here can't keep up. I put it on when I stop moving.
I've used thin breathable windshirts in some pretty hot weather for bugs and it's not too bad.

But something that's breathable enough to hike in, bug proof, water resistant, and wind proof… I don't know if such thing exists. You don't want windproof in warm weather.

Not likely to be comfortable in hot conditions with any humidity, but a combo of a more loosely woven/more breathable long sleeve shirt, combined with bug net clothing works pretty well provided you're not bushwacking, and not staying still. Extra weight yes, extra comfort though too.

That is a good point, most bugs issues are when you stop. I think ‘windproof’ is only good up to about 3-4 CFM because I know I have one at 10 CFM and if the wind blows I feel it.

Also, it would be good to have a long sleeve hiking shirt that breathed and was wind resistant also. Dang.

I use my Arc'teryx Squamish like that. But maybe my warm weather hiking is significantly colder than yours. Not warmer than 25 degrees celcius.

Yeah, I have a Westcomb Crest Hoody but I don't think I could use it above 65F while moving but it is fine while stopped but I don't think it would work above 85F but then again nothing probably would.
