I ran across this page with photos of a duplex hexanet and tarp combo. It says prototype 3. Does anyone know about this hexanet? Is it coming out in future? Was the idea discarded? Is it available now and I couldn't find it?

I like the idea. A lot. I enjoy my duplex but use it only in the summer. It'd be great to use the tarp year round and add net tent when needed.

As a big guy, I've found net tents to be restrictive and cramped. But with the twin peaks, the duplex net tent looks spacious. Plenty of headroom and length.

Should this combo come on the market, will it be time to pass on my duplex tent and Solomid XL, for one versatile set up? We. Shall. See.

I wrote zpacks for info but thought I'd check to see if anyone knows more about it.

very similar to an SMD Cuben Haven, except for some details (e.g. a cuben floor, no outer zippers)

Unless they have changed their minds, this was merely a prototype that was discarded in favor of the current model, unless I am mistaken. I seem to remember seeing 4 different prototypes, most of which were never seen again, when the shelter was first brought up in the forums by Joe at Zpacks.

I recently asked Joe about this and his reply was:

"When I was designing the tent I did try a version with an inner tent. It was heavier, more expensive to build, and took longer to pitch. I don't plan to offer that."
