How much line do you recommend for pulling a backpack up either up a single tree or between trees?

It really depends on how high you want to go. I carry 50 feet of 3 mm climbing accessory cord (pound loadage of roughly 382 lbs)in my essentials kit
It has been used to haul up to 35lbs of food in one go, used as a dryline, and as shoelaces.
Not sure if this will help, best of luck!
For bear bagging I use about 50 feet for 1 tree and about 90 feet for between trees. I would recommend being prepared for both unless you know beforehand your tree options.
Dyneema cord and AirCore Pro UrsaLite have worked well for me with up to 9.5 pounds. How much gear are you gonna hoist?
50 foot per tree.
