Hello everyone!

I just thought I would share some photos from my recent adventures and introduce myself at the same time. My name is Alex, I am currently a full time student in the medical sciences, and when I am not busy studying, I love nothing more than taking off on long walks through the wilderness!

I have been lurking around the forums since early spring and have learned so much from all of you. I have been backpacking for most of my life (I rode IN the pack on my first trip), but only really started seriously this last summer. Before that it was always low mileage trips with a lot of fishing. Now there is no fishing and nothing but walking all day long.

I have learned how to dehydrate my own meals, sleep without an enclosed shelter, cut my gear down to the essentials etc… The trips I did this summer would not have been possible without all I have learned through BPL; I am indebted to you all.

Here are some scattered pictures from my solo trips through the Sierras this summer. I think I covered somewhere just under 500 miles so the photos are from all over Kings Canyon and Sequoia NPs.

Thanks for sharing Alex, and welcome to BPL. Looks like you went to some cool places.

Welcome to BPL. You hit some of my favorite places in the Southern Sierra; Pinchot Pass, Upper Basin, Elizabeth Pass, Cloud Canyon, Muir Pass, upper Kern & Forester Pass. With so many trips around Kings Canyon are you coming from somewhere in Southern California?

Thanks for the welcome

I live in Glendale right now and will be here for the next ~3 years. We've got quite a few good backpacking locations within a few hours drive. Now I am in the middle of planning some short, overnight backpacking trips in Death Valley and Joshua Tree for the fall and winter.
