Considering the Marmot Plasma 0F bag.
What do you guys/gals think of the longitudinal baffles (perpendicular to direction of traditional side to side baffles)?

I think the claimed advantage over traditional baffles is that it prevents the down from shifting to the sides.
I think that may make sense, especially for a side sleeper that tosses and turns all night.
Thinking that when on my side there is a pretty steep gradient from my shoulders/hips that could cause the down in traditional side to side baffle system to migrate down an away from shoulders and hips… leaving a cold spot all along the upper part of my body.

what say yee?

Anyone have experience with the Marmot Plasma?

I've only used the Plasma 30.

I love the longitudinal baffles. They do a much better job from developing cold spots.
I now only make quilts with longitudinal baffles.
I think EE is also very smart going to them.

The only thing for your sake about the cost is that a 0F bag is already stuffed to the gill and shouldn't develop any cold spots.
Kind of something you only need to worry about in a 15F and up bag.

The Plasma is still a really nice cut.

I have the Plasma 15 and have used it around 0F and found it to be great. Was using an REI Stratus sleep pad, inside a 3-season tent, wearing all my layers. Didn't hurt that the dog was snuggled up with me. But I have a total of 7-8 nights in it ranging from 0F to +25F, so not a huge sample. Mine were 1-night trips and I have no idea what the moisture situation would be like after 3-4 nights straight.

Bob… a Plasma 15 at 0F !
you must be a warm sleeper.

I'd probably need a -20 bag with with down jacket and pants at 0F :)
