Back in 2006 I decided I wanted to force myself to lighten up my gear so I bought a couple of Golite Breeze packs. They had been discontinued the year before and outfitters were closing them out to get rid of them. One of the packs I've used for two thru-hikes and countless other shorter trips and dayhikes over the years. It's so tough though that I never had a cause to get out the other pack and it's still hanging in the closet with tags – never been worn.

I'm not sure that I'll ever want to sell it as I think it's kind of a cool piece of backpacking history. Having said that I doubt I'll ever use it because there have been a lot of improvements made in the last decade in ultralight pack design and the breeze isn't exactly insanely comfortable. If I did want to cash this in on ebay one day to fund a new pack how much would be reasonable to ask?

It feels weird to ask because it really is just a pack and I'm not into collecting stuff – more of a minimalist really – but at the same time, if I did sale it, I don't want to just give something away that might be valuable.

Thanks for any insight. And really, I'm not fishing for a buyer or anything like that. Im really not interested in selling the pack right now. Just curious on what status these packs have in the market at the moment.

I purchased one in 2009 on eBay. I don't remember the price, but it was higher than the original list price. At the time, there was a demand for them and I lost out on the first one I bid on. Not sure if that is still the situation. You are right, they are tough and will last forever.

I don't know what they'd be worth but I'd love to have one…

Will depend a bit on where that model fits into the scheme of things against packs available now. In a lot of ways, Golite packs have gone backwards if we are thinking of value to the BPL crowd (or at least sections of it). Earlier packs, like Ion, were an awesome pinnacle of design simplicity/function/aesthetic/minimalism/SUL. There are replacements available of course for these niches amongst smaller cottage manufacturers.

I can't remember what that model Breeze looked like let alone specs. If you could post a couple of pics and some specs and features that would help a lot, at least from putting it into perspective against current market offerings.

Cheers!

PS, I totally get the minimalism vibe, am that way inclined myself. If you want to give it away, you could always give it to a local Scout troop. Along with running an info session on UL techniques for a night, be quite invaluable to them :-)
