I know this topic has been beat on for the last year, but I couldn't find anything specific about my issue. I have been using my Sawyer Mini since it first came out. Recently, the neck area on the bag failed after 30+ nights on the trails.

I bought a Evernew 1500 "water carrier" bag to replace my sawyer bag, but it seems that the threads don't match up. The water leaks around the seams of the thread. Is there a specific bag that everyone is using from evernew that works? or is everyone using a gasket to keep it from leaking?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know what to tell you. I've been using the same Evernew 1500 since December of 2012 with both my Squeeze and Mini.

Did the Mini not leak with the Sawyer bag?

Did the gasket fall out?

Try a soda or water bottle, because they're cheap and easily available. Just to see if the problem is with the Mini. You may find that actually is a better solution.

Did you screw the Mini on tight enough? But not too tight? Just try it again and see if it works now.

Just asking the normal debugging questions. Not calling you an idiot : )

I feel like an idiot for asking. I'll check for the gasket tonight. I remember having one on my Squeeze, but I may have lost the gasket for my Mini when I shook it out since I don't remember having one.

Screwed it on tight and adjusted to see if it would stop leaking. No go there.

The Mini did not leak with my original Sawyer bags.

After you figure it out, then you're an idiot : )

Pretty sure there's supposed to be a gasket. Take the gasket off the Squeeze? Maybe a garden hose gasket is the same size?

replaced the gasket on my squeeze with one.

If the gasket is still in place, think about if the problem is over-tightening, that can cause leaks. Just tight enough to be "firm" when screwing the Sawyer on.

You were all right, I am missing the gasket on my Mini. I have no idea how I lost it. I have been using it without the gasket for a while!

Problem solved – feeling like an idiot.
