Went to Goat Rocks over the weekend. This was the first trip where I was really wishing I had a camera.
Cispus Pass was amazing! My iPhone was all bubble wrapped/ziploced up in my pack at that point, but i did snap a few shots in-camp:
My view of Mt. Adams on Sat. morning:

Here's my tarp pitched:

I'm using my hammock tarp with my bivy for now, because that's what I have. I could have brought my hammock, but I wasn't sure about the tree availability and was with a non-hammocker.
Curiously, of the six trips I've done over the past two seasons, this is the closest to home.
We went up Nannie Ridge (wouldn't again, too much horse evidence). Camped at Sheep Lake, which was lovely, and only one other group there on Friday evening.
Took the PCT over Cispus Pass, then up toward Old Snowy Mountain.
The Snowgrass Flats area was very busy, seemed like too many folks were headed toward Alpine Camp. So we just headed down, and found a site near Goat Creek. Brrr — definitely felt the katabatic air there. It was a quick 1.5 mile hike out in the morning.
EDIT/ADD: Oh, it was also my first time seeing a marmot and a pica! The marmot was crazy cute, industriously gathering stuff.
PNW folk: Next time I go back to the Goat Rocks, any suggestions on less popular routes/destinations?
