I like the way you could hear the guy exhale a few times before stepping off the cliff… I've always wondered if they have a moment of fear right before they get airborne…

Sorry, but that guy is an idiot. "Oh, we could die together." Yes, and if you do, one of you will have made the choice to take that risk. And it's not the one that got stuffed in the pack. Jeez.

Notice how the dog only looks happy when he's running to the woman after they are on the ground? "I'm so happy I'm back on the ground and I survived. Now get me as far away from this moron as possible!"

"Sorry, but that guy is an idiot."

I'd probably use a more profane word, but agree with your sentiment.

In the end he talks about fantasy vs "actuality"….that's nuts. Many of these jumpers die doing the jumps, all it takes is a good downdraft, but the dog is not given a choice and that's just wrong IMHO. He's forcing the dog to live his fantasy, is this abuse? It is in my thinking. And who in his/her right mind wants to add more weight to an already sketchy situation??? I agree, idiot is too gentle a term to use….
Now for a flip side view… In the 1970's there was a hanglider guy in PA who used to take his German Shepard with him in a sling under his harness. Every time we went to watch the gliders take off this dog WANTED to go, he was soooo excited and so enthused about gliding with his human it was obvious the dog LOVED to do it, could hardly wait to get into his harness and he wagged his tail the whole way down. Was that abuse? You decide.

A dog may want to go with his human, but does not have the ability to determine if it is safe or not. My dog hates rivers and lakes, but reluctantly will get in our inflatable boat because he has separation anxiety, which is stronger than his fear/dislike of water. If he had a choice he would make us stay on land with him.
