I'm going to northern emigrant out of kennedy meadows this friday, anyone know if we will get smoked out that far north?

Tioga Pass is still open, so the smoke must not be very bad. The smoke seems to be going straight up, and I don't understand that. Mammoth claims clear air.

Take your ultralightweight SCUBA gear and you will be fine.

You can keep an eye on the satellite maps at https://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/. Pan left over CA, zoom in, and if there are no clouds you can see the smoke plume over Yosemite. It is visible on the 9/9 images. Use the date selection at the bottom to go back a day if the image over CA is dark (or wait a few hours for it to update).

Kennedy Meadows is about 40 mi. NW of the fire the way the crow flies. In the 9/9 satellite image, the plume was heading NE towards Mono Lake. But of course, it's wind and will change!

I think that crow is lost… carbon monoxide poisoning? Tough job to fly in a straight line through a fire.

Weather looks stable in the area for the foreseeable future – no rain, wind W or SW. So I guess that means the worst of the smoke centered on Lyell Canyon area. North of Tuolumne or south of Donahue might turn out bad too, depending on the precise conditions.

We drove through Yosemite on Tue the 16th.

The Meadow fire was pretty much out. No smoke to speak of.

Thanks for that. Now all we need to worry about is the chance of snow. :)

I changed a 4-day trip starting 10/1 to Tuolumne Meadows from Echo Lakes to Donner Pass because of the King fire. Hoping for more precip to put that bugger out!
