Looks like another fire is burning in Yosemite, this one near Little Yosemite Valley: http://www.wbtv.com/story/26470134/meadow-fire-burns-inside-yosemite-national-park.

Yosemite Conservancy’s High Sierra Webcam seems to verify:

I happened to be dayhiking out of the Duck Pass trailhead today, and saw the plume, both from Duck Pass, and from the JMT along Cascade Valley.

Unfortunate for anyone planning to hike near Vogelsang HSC or LYV anytime soon–they’ve both been evacuated.

That is a very awkward place for firefighters since there are no roads in there.

Planning to head up tomorrow and car camp at TM campground and do some day hikes. Can anyone speculate on the amount of smoke that might be in the area?

I would develop a plan B. Based on the past two summer's fires a number of miles away from Mammoth Lakes where I was camped, the smoke can be very bad anywhere near one of these. The Meadow fire is sounding well contained, so that may help the situation (but even if it's 100% contained, it can still be burning inside the contained area). It is no fun to breathe all that smoke all night, or have your views obscured by smoke during the day, so if it's bad you'll want to have your backup plan. I'd say camp somewhere where there is not too much smoke to breathe comfortably; you can always drive to a clear area to hike if visibility is an issue for you.

Check the Yosemite webcams tomorrow. Maybe use Emigrant wilderness or Mammoth Lakes areas as a plan B, depending on where you are coming from and how far you want to drive?

I hope you have a good trip, wherever you end up. Good luck!

If that's closer, it would probably be wise. There must be a number you could call for the ranger station in TM tomorrow to get the scoop, but my gut feeling is you may end up relocating the trip.

The High Sierra cam looks pretty bad this morning – I'd definitely switch to Desolation if I were you.
