'Ultrasil' is a name used by a number of different sellers. Like 'ultralight,' it really has no meaning, other than use as a tag for a product. Roger Caffin tested several for me. None were above average, and average in the US market is not good.

closest I can think of off hand.

Been awhile, not that there is a consensus- but is there a BPL "general opinion" on good source of 1.1 sil these days?

I'm not a camo guy, but Judy is selling this 3500mm sil

Don't think you she sells her standard fabric with the high HH any longer, but I did see this.

The only real concensus I have seen is that there are no reliable long-term sources.

There is a reason for this.
The vast market for silnylon is for those 20' high blow-up advetising dummies you see flapping around, and for parachutes, wings etc. Neither need a high HH. So the only real way to get a good silnylon is to commission a roll or two from a coating mill in Asia. So cottage mfr X does this, as best he can but as cheaply as possible, and for cash flow reasons sells some of it off. But what turns up may or may not be really all that good, given the price/weight constraints. Too many of the rolls have had disappointing HH values – we tested lots of them.

Oh yes, I should add: really tightly-woven good ultra-light plain-weave nylon fabric is EXPENSIVE! Cheaper but heavier taffeta is much cheaper. It's the looms and the weaving speed you see.

Cheers
