So I have had my goose feet gear down socks and overbooties since early spring. Needles to say I have not needed them..yet. I will this winter for sure. I found them to be a bit weird when I try them out in my yard. The Socks are great! The overbooties kind of cause my foot to slide around inside of them. I figured I would only need them to go on over the down socks maybe around camp when sitting around relaxing..or during the night to go take a leak and what not. so my next realization came this afternoon while going through my gear and sorting things out. .I figured I could remove the foam insert and just use the overbooties like that! Duh! I can also then slide my foot inside my sneaker or trail runner and wear them like that..works perfect for me!! They are also waterproof enough that if my shoes are wet my down socks will remain complety dry. This is great. And now they are a smidgen lighter to carry and smaller to pack. All these months after I brought them I was a little uneasy about them because of the comfort of my feet sliding around inside of them..so much in fact I was debating if I would even take them out with me instead of my sierra designs down booties..forgetting the weight penalty for comfort. Now I am satisfied 100% with this investment and can't wait to need them this winter. Just sharing a little info and helping anyone out with their decision on whether or not to invest in a pair of goose feet down socks/overbooties. I say totally worth it!!

That combination of down booties and overshoes is a good one. I've been using the same thing for about two years. However, instead of removing the foam inserts, I hand stitched two one inch elastic ribbons to the inside of the booties to keep the foam in place. It cut the slippage down considerably. In fact, these have been my camp shoes in all conditions, worn without the booties. At night I kept them within arms' reach for those midnight pee runs. Perfect.

I put a few seamgrip dots inside my Goosefeet overbooties. Keeps the foam in place under my feet instead of migrating to the top. They make great summertime camp shoes, letting me make that midnight run without having to introduce my sleep socks to the septic morass my shoes become after being continuously wet for two or three days.
