It seems a good price (on ebay). Looking to try it for bivy/inner nest floors. Have used Bearpaw in the past with satisfaction.

Any users?

I’ve seen
this thread

My thought is that ‘all’ silnylons I’ve used/handled feel thinner and less waxy than the MLD ‘Shield’ silnylon on my Trailstar. That includes that used on my Golite Hex3, Oware Tarp, Older Tarptent Scarp (including the floor), Older MLD Solomid, Bear Paw, and any UK made/designed tents…..

I dont have any experience with this sil but I did just make a hex tarp out of 7 yards from ripstopbytheroll and found the quality of the customer service to be killer and the quality of the product to be equally impressive. RBTR price is 5.95 per yard while this is 6.30, since the advertised price is by the foot also something to consider. I totally know what you mean about the trail star too it does have a kind of wax feel to it!
Happy trails
Matt

Thank you. Not heard of RBTR before. A good colour selection too.

Will see how shipping to UK works out.

Cheers.

BTW what I meant by my previous comment was, given the silnylons in most of my shelters don't have that waxy feel, and they seem to be fine enough in continuous rain, that the Montana Softrware stuff was probably as good.

Glad everything worked out for you Matt and thanks for the compliments. BTW the waxy feel you're talking about is most likely due to a sil/PU mix being used instead of a pure silicone coating. I know of at least one stateside mill that uses this process to coat their 1.1 oz 30D material.

I missed the boat on silnylon in any of the (dull) colours I wanted from Ripstop by the Roll sale, so went for the 'Ultra Waterproof' in Black from Montana Software. It arrived in England 12 days after my ebay purchase. Feels stiffer than the silnylon I had a few years ago from Bearpaw (which I'm happy enough with).

Plan to use it to make a bivi floor and a bathtub .

If I don't report back, complaining, you can take it that I'm happy!
