I have no idea what the OP is talking about specifically, but Suunto's are on sale at a few places right now. I have seen the core as low as 135 bucks depending on what look / color you're able to accept. Suunto just released the ambit 3 so you can find really good deals on ambit 2s. I have seen those up to 50% off. Troll amazon as the prices change daily but they seem to have the best deals. REI and EMS are also selling cores for about 30% off.

Thanks Wolfs.

I have a Casio Pathfinder which is serving me well. I shamelessly hoard watches and knives so I'm sure I'll eventually get around to buying he Core even though there's no reason for me to do so.

It's a sickness but I do deserve to be slapped by a starving child for this.

Yeah I've been debating picking up a core for a while. For me it would be my only ABC type watch and I really need something out in the backcountry. I almost picked up the black / black core tonight at REI but the legibility of the display keeps turning me off. Its a handsome and comfortable watch though. I'm also considering the ambit3 though since I have an aging garmin forerunner that needs replacing. I'm having trouble deciding between the two.

Prices keep dropping on the Fenix 2 as well. I have a Forerunner which is now on loan to a co-worker after I bought the 310XT (highly recommended). I figure if I bought the Fenix2 or Ambit, I could have one watch that does it all.

Again, it's a sickness.

I have a Pathfinder 1300 and just picked up a Suunt Core Green for $149. Found the Core in Lava Red for less ($140) but Green had rotating bezel and i preferred the blingier look.

I go back and forth between these watches. The Core is arguably better for its altimiter operation but i love that the Pathfinder is solar powered and syncs to an atomic clock every night which makes it dead nuts accurate. I also prefer the case size over the Core which is almost too large ( i am wearing the Casio as i write this- just back from a 6 mile day hike).

Fortunately both of these watches are great and the price of either makes it hard to resist having one or both.
