Is there anyone out there who owns a Large NeoAir XTherm that would be willing to do me a favor and measure the fully-inflated width at a point 72 inches down from the top?

I'm considering upgrading (downgrading from a weight perspective) to the large from my regular and am wondering how much more protection from the cold winter ground that I'd be buying for my meandering feet while asleep.

Thanks!

I can measure when I get home from work if no one gets a chance before then. I originally bought a regular and then exchanged it for a large. I found it made a significant difference from the waist up, especially being able to rest my arms on the pad while sleeping on my back. I find that adds a significant amount to comfort and warmth. However, I didn't pay attention to how it effected my feet as I'm a pretty solid back sleeper and don't move around a lot. Xtherm's taper considerably so I'll be curious to check that too.

Hey Scott. Here is the width measured at 72" down from top center of the Xtherm large pad.

Xtherm

Due to the rounded edge of the Xtherm, it could be arguable what the usable space measurement actually is. The picture is slightly misleading. The measurement is very close to 15" when viewed with the eye, but appears a bit less than that in the picture. I would consider 15" to be the maximum measurement. The actual flat space on top of the mat is closer to 14.5" edge to edge. I don't include the fringe seam in any of my measurements.

Thanks very much for taking the time to measure this- and with a picture taboot!

Things like this are what make this community great.

Have a good one!

The large Xtherm is significantly more comfortable. I had a regular and switched to the large. Volume-wise when rolled up it's still a small pad. I'm very happy with the large.

At this point I think I'm going to get one of the new regular sized Xtherm Max pads and not the large sized Xtherm. That way I get a full ~19 in for my feet and at only a 2 oz weight penalty (vs a 4.3 oz penalty for the Large). I don't really need the additional width at the top that comes with the large, and the extra 5" of length at the foot don't seem to add much value given the rapidity diminishing width.

I purchased the large NeoAir and cut it to length. I only saved a few ounces, but I really like having a "tailored" mattress and I'm not carrying any extra.

These MW size Exped pads will be coming out for Spring 2015, most likely available in late January, for those who prefer the vertical baffles of the Exped pads. These are very light weights for high R-values, and if the construction is similar to the existing Exped pads, they should be very durable. These specs are from Exped USA.

Downmat Winterlite: MW 21.8oz, R-Value 8.0
Synmat Winterlite: MW 18.6oz, R-Value 6.0
Synmat Hyperlite: MW 14.4oz, R-Value 3.1

Resurrecting an old thread.

Does anyone have the inflated measurement for a large XTherm at its WIDEST? I’m assuming it isn’t actually 25″.

Trying to figure out if my wife and I can get away with one large and one regular pad in our inner net.
