I want to ask Ron Bell if he would build me a custom bivy that is like the soul bivy, but with no-see-um mesh that extends from the bug netting window down to the knees, for a width of apx 12".
My thought is:
1) If using an adequate size tarp, I would still have the rain protection I need.
2) Wind would still be cut from getting under or through the sides of a quilt. (Wind cutting through from the top would be minimal wouldn't it?)
3) Better venilation/condensation control.
4) Could still have bug protection on warmer nights where you may have slept on top of the bivy.
I have no experience with bivies – will someone please tell me if this is a good idea, or if I should stick with the standard design? Would it make a difference if I bought the Grace Solo or the Grace Duo tarp? (i.e. rain)
