Free Kindle book today

Thanks for the heads-up. I just downloaded it and look forward to reading it after I finish my current book. It's gotten pretty impressive reviews too!

It looks to me like you have to sign up for Kindle Unlimited (9.99/month) to get that 'free' book… and it looks to me like sign up happens automatically when you click to download that book

Currently the kindle price is $0.00 which means you can purchase it with "1-click" for free, and the book is yours to read whenever you wish.

The other option "Read for free" with Kindle Unlimited button, is indeed a subscription service that is $9.99/mo and provides you with a large "all you can read" library. However, even after clicking on that button, you still have to click again to confirm you would like to start a 30-day trial of the service.

Most books like this that are temporarily dropped to $0.00 are only at that price for a few days, so snag this while you can.

Looks like you were right… or… at least I don't see a bill for the 9.99/month yet. Yet.
A few months ago I simply clicked on more information about Amazon Prime… decided not to buy… but lo… they billed my credit card!!! Had to call them twice to have it removed!!!
So, I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see a bill for 9.99 though I did not sign up for 'read free'…
