Is there any reason to own both? I already have a basic fleece and base layers.. But I still need my rain gear and colder weather gear. Thinking of getting the cerium lt hooded down and atom lt as a mid layer. This is mainly for three season backpacking in the PNW and 4 season wear around Portland.

I own the original OR Helium, and it's worked really well for me despite the lower breathability ratings, and I get quite sweaty under a pack.

I ordered the small Helium HD off of Sierra Trading Post for only $80 with coupon last weekend and should be getting it soon.

They still have small available, if that's your size. Some OR jackets tend to fit snug, but the original Helium fit me just fine with room for a thick fleece or midlayer under.

Code: MYF44545 For 30% off + free shipping on $75+.

Brings the jacket down to $94.46 (plus tax now that they are owned by TJ Maxx).

Great deal on a 20k/20k jacket that is 8oz in a large, so probably 7oz or so for the small.

Thanks for the info guys. I was planning on grabbing the m10 on sale atm on the Patagonia website for $227. Seems like a good price. As for the montbell recommendation, I'm going the Arc'teryx route partly for looks. I know the Mirage would be warmer but I'm happy to sacrifice some warmth to be happy wearing it around town.

I have both the Atom and the Cerium, and the Atom is superior in damp conditions.

The Cerium, while lighter, is less versatile- hence I am selling mine. (PM me if you want it, btw).

In the pnw i consider the R1/T3 to be too warm for continous activities for 3 season

Even in the winter here its too warm IMO for anything but stop and go situations (belayed climbing), especially under a shell

This depends on yr metabolism of course, i know some skinny females who love their R1/T3 for the shoulder seasons

;)
