Those flames are pretty big, nice. It doesn't look like the soot build up was too bad, either.

Can you tell me how tall that windscreen is when it is rolled up? That is, if you don't mind taking a measurement.

I was rolling an idea in my head and was hoping to get some feedback from the group. This is in regards to winter backpacking:

What if one would procure some of that titanium roll (from Ti Goat) and made a windscreen for the MSR Titan 2 liter pot. It could be a windscreen for the Coleman Xtreme AND you would have the option of burning wood for melting snow thus saving precious fuel.

I guess I didn't realize where you were headed with this. If rolled straight across, the cone is about 8.5 inches. In other words, it would be cut from material at least that wide. The TiGoat material would work fine.

I just noticed that BPL makes the SUL-1300, much lighter than the MSR pot, eight ounces versus four; better suited for melting snow for one to two people. Alas, out of stock…

So I'm thinking SUL-1300, a titanium cone windsceen, and a stripped down Coleman Xtreme, would make a very light winter cooking system.

Well, BPL actually sells an ~8" high windscreen made of that foil. It was included in the Taming those Foil Windscreens article at:

a little while ago. It works well in that application.

But if you are thinking of using it top make a Ti Caldera cone … think again. This is 0.005" FOIL, not light Ti sheet. It would crumple under the load of a full pot.

The Ti-Tri system is built from .005" foil, and will support 2 gallons of water, approx. 16lbs, with no trouble at all.

BTW there will be a canister stove addition, read Quad-Ti, version of the Ti cone at some point in the future.

Oops – conversion error at my end, sorry. The BPL foil is 0.0012 inches thick, not 0.005 inches.
Hum … so the TiGoat ti foil does not rustle quite the same? Interesting! I wonder whether it is strong enough to support a couple of wire pegs poked though? That's a bit harder. Perhaps you could test that and let us know?

If you used the pegs to punch the holes, you may run into some issues, but if you've used a hole punch (like TD/TiGoat does) the peg's hold just fine.
