Before starting and during a recent trip to the area, the west maroon drainage started having bear problems (grabbing improperly hung food bags. ripping apart unattended packs, and, apparently, interesting tents). Looks like a canister will be needed for the West Maroon drainage, probably within a week according to the Aspen source, so call for particulars before showing up (multiple sources – first couple paragraphs on second source):

Even if not going to this particular area, remember if there's been bear issues, properly bag food to avoid carrying canisters elsewhere.
