August, 1953,21 days, with my dad Milton Rudholm, my uncle Melvin "Bud" Rudholm, his sons Tom, Robert, and Doug, and six burros. We started at the Crabtree Pack Station on the North fork of the Kings. First camp was at Rancheria Creek, second at the Middle fork down Poop Point, 72 or so switchbacks. Stayed three days about half way to Simpson Meadow, fishing was outstanding, no snakes. Forded the river near Simpson, joined the JMT at Palisade Creek(?). Fishing in one of the Palisade Lakes was excellent. Did Mather, Pinchot, Glenn, and Foresters. Set up a base camp just west of Mt. Whitney and took a day trip to Wallace Lake and Tuleinyo. Climbed Mt. Whitney carrying a unicycle that my cousin Robert rode on one of the large flat rocks at the summit. Whitney was 14,496.811' at the time. We enjoyed a hot bath inside the bath house at a hot springs on the Kern River. Met our families and horse trailers at Camp Nelson.
