I decided on my last backpacking trip that I want to hike without trekking poles. If I ditch my trekking poles I will need a pole for my duomid. Ruta Locura make some carbon fiber poles that will work with the duomid but I don't want to spend $75. Are there any other companies making poles that would work? Or maybe someone has a good idea on how to make one.

My adjustable ruta locura pole only weighs 4 or 5 oz. So if I'm not getting a double use bonus for hiking poles and tarp pitching I want the lightest option with is ruta locura last time I checked. I may be wrong though since that was two years ago. I guess I'd you truly wanted the lightest you would either pitch it suspended between two trees on a line, or whittle a stick to size each night. Haha :) let us know which options you choose. I'm curious to know what other options there are now.

I use aluminum poles, for example from http://www.questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm#TENT POLES

0.433 is marginally strong enough – 3.1 oz for 60 inches – maybe $12 for 3 sections
0.625 is maybe overly strong – 7.5 oz for 60 inches – $16 for 3 sections

you have to buy several sections, maybe cut them to length
