I just wore through my first pair of trail runners: a pair of Inov8 Terrocs. I loved them, but on the final two days of their last trip I had a case of the ankle bruising on one foot (I've submitted a review mentioning this).
So I thought instead I'd try the fairly similar Flyrocs next since I hadn't read as many reports of the problem, but sadly it seems slightly worse than the Terroc in this respect (for me): out of the box the problem is apparent. Which is really disappointing because otherwise, like the Terrocs, the shoe feels great.
(But they're not perfect: the other issue is durability – the Terrocs only lasted about 350km (~220 miles). The Flyrocs have a pretty similar construction so I don't expect anything different).
What other shoes have fans of the Terroc/Flyroc liked? Quick drying is important for me, plus I like their wider, flatter feeling fit: I had a quick try-on of the Roclite 315, but found the fit 'pointy' at the fore foot and overall a bit narrow & high: felt like it would be easy to roll off.
Maybe one of the Mudrocs? The faster-wearing sole initially steered me off, but I don't see the point in having a still fresh-looking sole attached to some shreds of mesh & broken lace hooks.
