I'm getting better at my sewing machine!!

I was able to very nicely hem a pair of montbell dynamo pants! without much difficulty at all. But the only issue I have is that leg zippers need zipper stops at the end, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this. I tried pulling the metal zipper stops from the cut off ends of the legs, but pulling them off seems to destroy them. So I went to JoAnn fabrics to try to buy zipper stops and they don't sell them at all. I can't find the teeny tiny ones online…..there has to be way…..

Right now I just don't pull the zipper all the way to the bottom. But not sure that it's going to work.

Any suggestions??

Is it a separating zipper? And I assume you want it to retain that feature.. Right?

What size zipper is it? http://www.owfinc.com/hardware.html has some stops, but looks like they only go down to #5 zipper.

Edit:
Oh, I just realized you only need to keep the zipper from coming off when you close the zips fully (just like you said!).

You can just fold a small piece of fabric around one half of the zipper at the end and bartack it in place and repeat for the other half. That'll stop the zipper from continuing past the end.

You can probably even skip the bit of fabric part and just bartack across each zipper end individually.

I use Quest's #8 zipper stop on my #3 zippers and it works fine somehow (even lines up with the teeth).

Cool. I was wondering if I could just sew across it – I'll do that tonight. Thanks guys! I knew I could count on you….

I've tried zipper stops – my patience was exhausted before I got it to work

I just do a bunch of loops of thread by hand with needle. Start by going between two zipper teeth. Might need 20 loops total before it's big enough to keep zipper pull from coming off. Maybe thicker thread helps – I have some heavy duty nylon for upholstery thread.

That's what the guy from owfinc.com said also
