Henry at Hiking In Finland has updated his site with more news from the outdoor retailer show over in his neck of the woods.

Exped is coming out with a much lighter version of their Synmats, the Hyperlite, which is mummy shaped and only 330g at 180cm (71") long and R 3.1!!

Even crazier, they'll have an R 8 version, the Winterlite that's only 495g for the 180cm pad!

Down towards the bottom for the Exped. Memo is also making a very light double door double wall tent.

I wonder if much of the weight saving is due to Mummy shape. I tried a Bender Mummy
pad on a few trips but could not get on with the shape.

Looks interesting….I've not seen much chatter about the Exped Synmat Lite UL 5 M which is still rectangular and weighs only 390g, everyone seems to use the UL7 version.

Does anyone have any information about the UL5?

When is the Hyper mat out?

I think the reason the Exped Synmat UL7 is more popular than the Synmat Lite UL5 is that the UL7 is thicker at 2.8" with only a 2 oz weight penalty. The Lite UL5 is only 2" thick.
