Cool to cold and possibly wet -talking central to southern Rockies as the monsoons roll through (or not), central California coast this winter, and perhaps Vermont – or use with present 60L-ish Zimmerbuilt roll top and EE enigma 20 quilt (long, regular – water resistant)
New:
WR bivy (w/ cuben fiber Zpacks hexamid plus or MLD patrol shelter ) … still use sil tarptent brands for probable snow though.
Replacing patagonia torrentshell plus (has shoulder reinforcements but kept cause like the color) with maybe lighter rainwear.
Will need a down hat / balaclava for colder months
Already own:
R1 vs R2 vs R3? Kind of looking at the Cap4 or R1 hoody and maybe adding a light puffy vest (a number of long sleeves)
Cap1,2, 3 in various configurations (SS, LS, zipT) -planning to hike in 1 and use a heavier weight for sleep/potential bad weather
Using an exped UL 7 syn pad but a bit worried the bivy sacks won't take it. Maybe go back to thermarest?
Not really looking at replacement until 2015 warms up like a BBQ in Hades (=Texas) but here they are:
For wind plan on using one of my canisters to the end of 2014 – will try alcohol stoves next summer
Footwear: probably using my existing ventilators, maybe sprayed with water repellent, with heat molded Sole inserts. Note this isn't for snow (have some Lowa gtx renegades for actual winter)
Extras: Might need repellent, might not, sunscreen, toiletries.
