Hi BPL:

I have really enjoyed the feedback and discussion on the BPL forums, and we have decided to try a new approach that we hope will create an even more interactive and productive dialogue:

On Wednesday, July 30th at 7PM MST, SD will host a LIVE event to discuss tent design. You can sign up to join this event at the following link:

Yes, there will be a "sales" component to this: we will be offering a 20% discount on tents to anyone who attends the event. But mostly, we are hoping to connect more directly with the backpacking community, and share our "contrarian" shelter design philosophy which we are really passionate about. I would love to have some participation from the BPL community, since passionate philosophies abound in this community; and you know I love the banter.

We have never done this before, so I can't really tell you exactly what to expect. My hope is that there will be a significant component of interactivity. Casey (our equipment product manager) and I will be giving our perspective on some key historical tents in an effort to frame our argument as to why we are "waging war on vestibules". We'll review some of our shelters and show you why we made them like we did. Finally, we will give you a sneak peek at a NEW shelter we created for 2015 that we believe re-defines what's possible with regard to space/weight relationship in shelters.

I hope to see some of you there!

I'm sad but I'll be at work….
Any chance that this thread could be updated after the event with the sneak peak?

Anthony:

I believe the video will be posted on our site afterwords. I got a couple of other IM's regarding the sneak peek, and will start another thread on that…..

Thanks to all who attended tonight's LIVE event! Casey and I really enjoyed speaking to you and taking some questions. We are really happy with the outcome, and already have some plans to do another and make it even better. We want to figure out how to incorporate more questions and comments from the audience in the future…..

Thanks again!
